# Deplo vs Vercel

## The same push. A bill that stops growing.

Vercel Pro is $20 a month for every person who deploys. The same push here costs the server.

## Three things that change the day you leave.

Not opinions: one is their price list, the other two are in their own documentation.

### Five more people, $100 more a month.

Vercel Pro is $20 a month with one deploying seat inside. Everybody else who deploys is $20 more, every month. Here the team is as big as it needs to be and the bill is the server.

### The worker that is still running at 3 a.m.

A queue consumer or a Postgres has no HTTP request to wake it, so Vercel's guide sends them to Queues, Workflows, Cron Jobs or a Marketplace database, each on its own bill. Here each one is an app on the same server, awake all night, with its own volume.

### A freelancer sees one folder, not your account.

On Vercel, limiting somebody to a single project means the Contributor role, and that is an Enterprise plan. Here you share one folder with a role like "can deploy, can't delete": they see its apps and nothing outside it.

| | Deplo | Vercel |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Everybody deploys, no seat to buy**: No seat to buy: every member deploys, and the bill does not know how big the team is. | Yes | No |
| **Roles you write yourself**: One capability per action, and roles built out of them. Not a fixed list. | Yes | Partial |
| **Access to a single project**: A folder share gives somebody everything inside one folder, and nothing outside it. | Yes | Partial |
| **Processes that stay awake**: A worker, a queue consumer or a database runs as an app, whether or not a request arrives. | Yes | No |
| **A disk that survives the deploy**: Volumes you mount on the app: the container is recreated at every deploy, the data is not. | Yes | No |
| **Databases next to the app**: Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis and ClickHouse managed by Deplo, on the environment's own private network. | Yes | No |
| **Backups encrypted before they leave**: A schedule copies a database or an app, encrypts it on the server and sends it to your bucket or another machine. | Yes | No |
| **Cron in its own timezone**: Each job carries its own timezone and runs a command inside the container, not an HTTP call to a route. | Yes | Partial |
| **A shell in the running container**: Run commands in the container from the browser, through the agent on the server. | Yes | No |
| **A global CDN in front of every page**: Deplo serves from your server's region. A CDN only speeds up files that can be cached, and Vercel too renders pages on demand in a single region by default. An audience near your server will barely feel the difference; for a global one, Cloudflare's free plan can sit in front. | No | Yes |
| **Nothing to pay when nobody visits**: A server costs the same whether it is busy or idle, but it is not billed per app or per seat: the quiet apps ride along at no extra cost, as many as the machine holds. Their functions scale to zero, but the plan and the seats are billed either way. | No | Yes |

## Your team, on both bills.

Three answers, two numbers. Theirs comes from their published price list; ours is a plan you can buy today.

Deplo itself: free, every feature, no seats.

One server for the whole team and all its services.

No meter: the plan has one price a month.

- Vercel Pro: $20 per month, with 1 deploying seat.
- $20 per month for every other person who can deploy.
- A worker or a database cannot stay awake here. Vercel's own guide moves workers to Queues, Workflows or Cron Jobs and databases to a Marketplace provider, each billed on its own.
- Traffic up to 1024 GB per month: $0 per month.
- Traffic up to 51200 GB per month: $20 per month.
- Function and image usage is left out of both columns: on Pro the $20 monthly credit covers it for a small app.
- Prices read on 2026-10-08 from https://vercel.com/docs/pricing/flat-rate-cdn.

Vercel Pro numbers are their published list, read on 8 October 2026.

## Try Deplo before you leave Vercel.

Click around a real Deplo on a real server for a few minutes. No email, no password, nothing to migrate yet.

## What you get on day one

Deploys, backups, logs, metrics and TLS, already on. Nothing to buy on top, nothing to hunt down.

### Let AI interact with your infra

Ask, and it's done. Connect Claude, Cursor or any assistant that supports MCP, and it can deploy, read the logs and roll back when you ask in plain words. It works with a key you create and can revoke at any time, and it can never do more than you can. Nothing connects until you create a key, and one switch turns it off for the whole team.

### Ship on every push

Your whole release process becomes a push. Connect GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or Gitea once. Every push to your main branch goes live, every pull request on GitHub gets its own preview link that disappears when it closes, and a bad release goes back to the version that worked.

### Control who can do what

Your team works on the same apps without stepping on each other. Give each person exactly the access they need, like "can deploy, can't delete", and hand a freelancer or a client one project and nothing else. The activity timeline shows who did what and when, right in the dashboard.

### Host your Web app

Your app online without touching a setting. Connect the repo and you get a live link, and HTTPS the moment you add your domain. Deplo recognises your framework and builds it for you, and Postgres or Redis sits next to your app in two clicks. Same stack you ran on the cloud. Only the bill changed.

## Moving from Vercel

What stays the same, what changes, and what it costs.

### Is Deplo a drop-in replacement for Vercel?

No, and nothing that runs on one server is. You get the same push-to-deploy, a preview for every pull request on GitHub, free SSL and one-click rollbacks, on hardware you choose. What you do not get is a global edge network or compute that scales to zero: your app runs where your server is.

### Does my Next.js app need a Dockerfile?

No. Deplo detects the framework from your package.json on every deploy and builds with Railpack or Nixpacks. If you already have a Dockerfile, pick the Dockerfile method and it is used as it is.

### What happens to my serverless functions?

Your API routes keep working: the app runs in a container as the framework's own server, routes included. What has to change is anything built on platform products, like Blob storage, Global Config or a Marketplace database.

### What does Deplo cost for a team of six?

Nothing. Deplo is free and open source under AGPL-3.0, with no seats, no trial and no paid tier. The only bill is the server, from a partner or from a provider you already use.

## Ten minutes from now,
it's live.

Answer three questions and pick a host, or install Deplo on a server you already have. It's free, and leaving is as easy as arriving. What you do with the money you save is your business.
